The Vagabond

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel have read only One page" - Quote from the book 1000 places to see before You die" by Patricia Schultz. Here are some of the adventures of my Vagabond life......the moments of truth.....of tranquility....of rediscovering myself.....

About Myself

"I would describe myself with Robert Louis Stevenson's poem 'The Vagabond' posted below, which has fascinated me right from my school days .... probably the seeds were being sown then for me to love the adventurous life . . . . of a Vagabond"

The Vagabond

Give to me the life I love,
Let the lave go by me,
Give the jolly heaven above
And the byway nigh me.
Bed in the bush with stars to see,
Bread I dip in the river -
There's the life for a man like me,
There's the life for ever.

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o'er me;
Give the face of earth around
And the road before me.
Wealth I seek not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I seek, the heaven above
And the road below me.

Or let autumn fall on me
Where afield I linger,
Silencing the bird on tree,
Biting the blue finger.
White as meal the frosty field -
Warm the fireside haven -
Not to autumn will I yield,
Not to winter even!

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o'er me;
Give the face of earth around,
And the road before me.
Wealth I ask not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I ask, the heaven above
And the road below me.

-- Robert Louis Stevenson

My Life Is Yet Still

Sometimes the wind blows too hard
Sometimes the waters take the guard
Sometimes the clouds are very clear
Sometimes I’ve many tales to hear
But with all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

Sometimes my lips go open wide
Sometimes I sit besides the tide
Sometimes Hya’s on my mind
Sometimes Raphael do I find
But with all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

Sometimes life has no cheer ahead
Sometimes I feel my youth is dead
Some Niki then gives me a smile
And leaves me wondering all the while
But with all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

Sometimes I feel I’m 95
Sometimes the child in me is live
Sometimes I feel I’m satisfied
Sometimes my wants go rising high
But with all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

Sometimes I rock and have some fun
Sometimes I have to be a son
Sometimes I miss someone dear
Sometimes I find someone near
But with all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

I’ve moved so much but yet am still
And now surrender to my Father’s will
For someday I shall lie ‘still’ below
And then shall I say no more
With all these ups and downs . . .
. . . . my life is yet still!

SUCCESS

Success is speaking words of praise,
In cheering other people’s ways,
In doing just the best you can,
With every task and every plan.

It’s silence when your speech would hurt,
Politeness when your neighbor’s curt,
It’s deafness when the scandal flows,
And sympathy with others woes.

It’s loyalty when duty calls,
It’s courage when disaster falls,
It’s patience when the hours are long,
It’s found in laughter and in song.

It’s in the silent time of prayers,
In poverty and despair,
In all of life and nothing less,
We find the thing we call SUCCESS!!
